Hiya, and a bit late here to welcome you to BYC!

We're up here in Wisconsin. You didn't mention the breeds of birds you have, as that can make a difference. We raise/breed silkies and spoil them with 40°F heat in the worst couple of winter months. One coop has an oil-filled radiant one, and the other is a wired-in electric one. For the outside pens, we use the radiant "cozy coop" brand heaters. The neighbor has light Brahmas and doesn't heat. She loses one or two of the older ones every winter, but the rest fare just fine.
