1. So I’m not new to chickens, but have only lurked on BYC without joining. I am part of the Reddit sub though.
2. I currently have 46 chickens. 20 of them are Delawares that’s we are raising as meat birds that will be processed in three weeks, eight of them are pullets about to go to their forever homes, and we have a couple of excess cockerels that will be heading to freezer camp once they reach table weight. We are also raising heritage turkeys for the first time this year as well.
3. We have Delawares, RIR, buff Orpingtons, Easter eggers, Mille fleur d’uccles, australorps, a lavender Wyandotte, cinnamon queen, golden comet, and a bunch of half Delaware barnyard mixes. Our turkeys are Narragansetts.
4. My favorite aspect of raising chickens is spending outside screen free time with them.
5. I love to read, crochet, hike, bikes, ski, and spend time in the woods with my family.
6. I’m a librarian and an Army Officer in the Reserves who has a soft spot for old cats and pit-bulls. I have a lovely partner and daughter.
