Off topic here, but Tookie...! My avatar is of Clair, a Japanese bantam I rescued from a breeder where I found her flailing, bald, pecked, sunburnt, filthy. It was beyond traumatizing for both of us. All I saw was this poor hen and time moving in exasperating slow motion as I insisted on buying this bird and getting the heck out of there. I rushed her home and she lived a very happy life for several years. She had advanced splaying in one leg I could not correct, and she was able to move around quite well, so I simply accommodated in her habitat and made sure she was always clean. She had several hens who kept her company, too. She was the best, loved her baths, and would purr happily on my lap for hours!

Aww she sounds like such a special little hen! She went through a lot, and I'm glad you were there to take her in and care for her. Special needs hens are always... special. ❤️
