I made my incubator and was being stealth about it. My first try at incubating .. Didn't want to count my chicks before they hatrched...

Well, today is the 21st day and so far 3 out of 8 have PIPS!!

I will try and posts some pics of the incubator when I am done! It isn't pretty but it cost me a whole 11.00$ so we will see how it does!

I do have a question, can I move the eggs at all while they are PIPing? I would like to place a bath cloth under them for when they are out. Richt now they are sitting on hardware cloth, that is covered in soft plastic place mat mesh. Will that be ok or should I move a soft wash cloth under them ?

BTW they should all be RIR's. Watching the 'bator like a good Movie

Yeah you is right!!! I'd leave them alone; it sounds like you have them situated on something which will be just fine for now. I'm also on my first hatch and have 13 out of 22 running around in the incubator!

It was all I could do not to open the incubator and help the first one that PIP'd out. So, I went to TSC and walked around for a bit then to Wal-Mart. When I got home I felt more in control

So I was sitting in the recliner (incubator at my feet, and thought I will look in , the first one was ZIPPPING away! Looked up and said....PEEP...PEEP..

Here is a short video clip of my first EVER hatch from my flock! Sorry for the video, my wife had to shoot it because I got a phone call right after it hatched and the glass is a bit wet

I'll post another one as I can!

Also 5 out of 8 have PIP'd . I kept the humidity around 30-50% during the incubation and between 99-102 degrees(VERY homemade 'bator) and I put it up to 60% Humidity today at day 21. Still watching and keeping my fingers crossed!
