He doesn't look pure, but he'll keep my 3 hens busy this summer. Seems healthy. Has what looks like a nice 18" tail, which seems impressive since all of mine's broke during the recent freeze. He was in a run by himself... I guess he lost his mate, so now he is with my hens.

he is agolden pheasant. And a very handsome one at that, although he could do with settling in and preening himself as his feather quality is abiit shabby. Is it rainig by any chance mistercooper as he looks like my male when it does. he gets all shabby but then dries off and looks so sleek.

Yes, I suppose that makes sense! He came from a very muddy 4'x8' chainlink run so I'm sure his feathers will improve as some time passes. It is always showering up here in the PNW :)

I also noticed some of the questionable feathers still resemble the juvenile stage, so maybe they will improve as well. I don't know enough about judging purity of Golden/Amherst.

hes pure golden. Its quite rare these days but good to see. i would never have crosses. When he preen you wont notice the brown on his wings

made a makeshift roof out of a tarp and some wire for half of the run today... It will only work temporarily, I wish those corrugated tin panels weren't so expensive at the hardware store.
