My brother had two ducks hatch around mid August, and we took them in. Thinking they were likely the offspring of his Rouen with his Golden Layer and Pekin, we named them Stonk and Chonk as a vague reference to those breeds
That was the assumption until they grew the same plumage 2 months later, which left me curious if both were probably different colors descending from his Golden layer... until today. I checked out Chonk's face and discovered what looks like the beginning of caruncles
If my memory is any good, I believe his whole flock of ducks visited ours for a solid 2-3 weeks, and those dates are within a month of their hatch date. That and we definitely slipped a few eggs under one of his hens at one point to keep her broody. I just don't remember who they came from lol.
Anywho, since we have a male rouen, male muscovy and female muscovy among a bunch of mallard-derived girls in the combined flock, I guess the question in a nutshell is:
1. Do we have two hybrids?
2. If we do, what are some ways to tell Mules and Hinnies apart? How big does each get? Does each look or act differently?
Thanks all!
