I am still a bundle of nerves, this morning as I was leaving my kitchen to go into the back hallway I almost stepped on a snake! You know the old saying of "If it would have been a snake it would have bit you"? Let me tell you....I was heading into the hallway to go to the bathroom and something told me to look down, so I did and did I ever get a fright

my right foot was about to step down on a HUGE snake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I stood there screaming Derek Snake!!!!!!!!!
DHs friend was here and he imediatly got on a chair and Derek came running!!!!! This snake in my opinion had the colors and markings of a rattle snake and it was striking at dh scared the you know what out of me!!!!! This snake was growling and hissing in fear!
The snake was 5ft or longer and a good 4-5" around. Derek managed to get it out of the house and took it across the road!
My heart is still racing.
Yesterday Derek and I were outside all day rerouting chicken wire fencing and installing a 2nd gate as we are in the process of dividing the coop & run so each of our 2 roosters can have his own harem.
When we came in last night alot of nick nacks were broke and in the floor, pictures knocked down, my 2 lamps next to our bed are touch lamps and they were on, I thought we had a ghost or something in the house, OMG this snake had to have been in our house unnoticed since yesturday, and I slept!!!! How did we miss it?

What if it would have found the brooder in my livingroom? So I called my mom and told her about the snake, I described it and she told me that it was most likely a type of king snake, I have now told dh that it could be time to move! I hate snakes!
I am sorry this is so long but I had to get it off my chest!
Thanks for reading!!! I am still upset over it.

I have two dogs, two rats, 1 hamster, and a bearded dragon in the house. If i had been about to step on that snake... well i prolly would have stepped on it. If it wasnt for my friend brenda and her awesome eyes, i would have stepped on a cotton mouth or two while out in the woods.

Oh my I would of peed my pants! We kill alot of Cotton mouths, Water Moccasins and Rat Snakes here ALL the time. I was mowing just last week and made a nice scrambled rat snake on accident but the durn thing struck at the mower so it was trying to get ME!

I hope nothing gets our chickens, I think we messed up by not putting down some sort of metal under the dirt. Oh well. So glad your okay! It sure could of been a King snake, when I was little I thought I came accross a rattle snake but my dad explained to me it was a king snake... which can be good to have around they eat other snakes... but NOT in you house!

Whew, my heart is racing after reading your post!

Good grief! I would have died! I can only imagine how you felt when you realized that snake had been crawling everywhere! I hate it, but I have an automatic gut/fear reaction everytime I come across a snake...my mouth opens and a scream emits.

I know they're beneficial and I'm ok after my initial reaction, but I hate snake surprises!
