I've had a rattlesnake in my classroom twice looking to cool off this year. We have no idea how they get in, but I'm in a portable so they are underneath at times. I've had them at home, in my house, my yard, I've got got scars on my arm from right before Steven was born when I was bitten by a rattlesnake three times in the same arm, explain that one to the EMS!
I've gotten used to snakes, I just box them up and move them out now.

Glad you didn't get bitten!

While eating lunch one day I looked over at my hamster cage on the table, and slithering around it was a pygmy rattlesnake. They're small, but very poisonous!

So what kind of snake was it!? A rattler or something that just looks like one, like a Gopher snake or a Bull snake?

My parents would be scared to death, my brother would be sitting on the counter and I'd be chasing it around the house trying to catch it!

And Stumpy, they arent poisonous at all! They're venomous.

I might have done the same as DH's friend. I hate snakes with a passion. I can't even imagine how terrifying that was for you. My parents and my brother saw one slithering across their driveway today. My brother ran over it to kill it. I hope you don't have to go through something like that again.

Just thought to share a stepping-on-a-snake story.
Years ago, I was taking the tail end of the cub scout group hiking through a known snake area in early spring. Had the lecture for the kids beforehand. So I holler at the kids to stop, and ask them if they'd been paying attention and watching for snakes. Yes, m'am! So, what is this then, I ask, pointing to the trampled-to-death copperhead in the trail at my feet...

they never saw the poor thing!
PS and in the house I never see anything until after I've tripped/bumped/crashed into it...
