How about a Northern Pine Snake? I know these guys can be pretty hissy too, beautiful snakes though. Your cream with black description sure fits this one!

Hi Debbie,

Its no trouble at all! I love learning about new species in other states, so it was fun for me. You would hate my house then. I've got 7 snakes and 20 eggs incubating!

And yes, Im almost positive they could make the growling noise. Its more of a rumbly hiss, I think. I've never dealt with a Pine snake before, but I've heard gophers do it and they're sorta related.

I have been so paranoid that snakes are gonna get in our house too. If I had seen one in the hallway, I don't know if I would be here to tell the tale, LOL.

There was a story on the news here several months ago where some guy found like 40 snakes in his basement. I cannot even begin to imagine. If I found all those snakes, I think we would be moving out the same day! Anyway, we are living across the street from a lake/reservoir and I have never seen so many garter snakes in my life. I am keeping my fingers crossed that there are *only* garter snakes out there. LOL.
