Hi I am a new member and I am getting chickens this February. I am 11 years old. I have 2 dogs and about a year ago all of a sudden I really wonted chickens and my mom said "if you want chickens you have to research on chickens." So for the next 2 months are so I researched on chickens and every day that I researched I got more and more satisfied on chickens. You mite think you are getting chickens this February when you wanted them a year ago. I am not going to get into that. But I still have so much more stuff to learn about chickens and this is really going to help. I will try and post a pic of my chicks when I get them(if I can I just got a new computer and I don't know how to take pictures on it yet.) I am getting 3 chickens and one of them is going to be named Melvened in memory of one of are old friend. I could use some name suggestions. Also little chicken hint if you get Rescue Remedy Stress Relife on amazon and once a day put one drop on the chickens back and rub it in it will help even if the chicken is not stressed. It is like getting the chicken a spa.

Good for you doing your research and for joining this group where lots of smart and experienced people will be happy to help you take care of your chicks. I bet you can hardly wait for February!

I think it's great that you are going to name one of your chickens in memory of an old friend. Two of my Bantams, Billie and Maxie, are named in honor of friends of mine who have passed away.

If you let us know how many and what kind of chicks you get, I bet lots of people will have name suggestions.
