I am crushed

Our spunky, playful and adorable mama's boy rat terrier had to be put down last night. He went from spunky and playful to lethargic and no quality of life over night. By the time we got to the vet his temperature was low and his body was shutting down. We took him to the Animal ER and found out he had liver cancer tumor that had blood vessels pop and there was no hope. His blood cell levels were down to 12%. We were so puzzled because due to his age I had a complete blood work up done just in April and all was well with blood levels being perfect and enzymes and all that stuff good too. We are all crushed. He had shown no signs of decline at all until a day ago. We are all crushed.

I am so sorry. Whether it is a quick decline and death or a long and difficult illness, it is always hard to lose a dear pet and companion.

He had a great life. The last few years we have lived on 7.6 acres. He loved running through the yard and our special walks down our trail to the river.
