I have great news, I am getting a few Emu chicks probably next month. I am also visiting an Emu farm on Friday. Me and my dad raise our birds. Does anyone have any suggestions for Emu care? I heard that we need to worm them so they don't get a disease from raccoon scat. Does anyone know about this? Also, can Rhea or Geese live with Emu? I think the answer is no, but I was curious. I know we need a 6-foot tall fence and a decent size area. We also need a shack. We will be building a 4-sided dwelling with a door on the far-end that is a foot wider and taller than the Emu. I do not know what his dimension plans were, but we will have the funds to build it. Does the building require insulation?

Congrats on the Emus. Personally I would think the Rheas would be fine but perhaps not the geese, they can sometimes tread on things when they get larger

I have a neighbor who also has emu and his were raised with turkeys, chickens, and Gennie's and he didn't have any problems he has had them like that for about 18 years however if they are grown they will not get along they have to be with the smaller birds from a young age in order for them to except them ,hope this helped , I have emu and other birds but they are separated in different pens.

however the emu need there water fresh and Geese do tend to play in the water and keep it messy .

Congrats on the Emus I found this Care Sheet for Emus very helpful, Personally I would think the Rheas would be fine but perhaps not the geese, they can sometimes tread on things when they get larger

I disagree on that care sheet... potato salad?.. seriously?.. there is nothing on there about proper care or feeding.. more like a "look at my cute silly emu" page

You can get much better info here by just reading the forum or asking specific questions

My apologies for the link, I am new to looking after Emus and found the link useful for some information and was trying to help, I certainly wouldn’t feed my emus coffee .
