I am having THE hardest time

DH said he's not even remotely worried about it at ALL...

our road is travelled but only by local peeps who use it to drive to work...90% of the town dont even come down our road...

I cannot find ANYTHING on smallstock/poultry etc...but like I said they do have goats and horses IN town..and most hafe more than
one and you KNOW they dont have an acre of land!

so...on we go..easier to ask forgiveness than permission sometimes...
but I let that fall on hubbys head...

I also live in a small town, I talked with the city about it, and they do have an ordnance against chickens in town. But unless somebody complains they don't enforce it. I know of several people that have chickens here in town.

If you have livestock around you, you can be sure you can have chickens.

It would be best to have a copy of the pet and livestock ordiances on hand in case someone wants to make trouble if you can have chickens.

I'm sure you will!

personally i would jsut buy the chickens but then again i wouldnt care much about getting in trouble either lol to make sure your neighbors arent going to complain aboutthem go and ask them if it would bother them that you had them let them know they will not be roaming around there yard or trashing anything and offering them some eggs here and there wouldnt hurt either

we have an elderly neighbor to the north of us; we'll keep her in eggs anyway...
then the other neighbors I dont care about (oops..not nice)...but they are further north..not much..but some...

and then to the south; we have lots o room between us/them!

sstopped by the guy with the 2 goats today; turns out he has 3 chickens too!

All free roaming...he has a pen/coop but he just lets them go wherever; tot he park etc across the street..
says he has no complaints...
he had a complaint about the goats one time..the city ppl came down; looked at them..said they have feed and
shelter..they are fine..and left lol..

he said a guy in town has like 20++ chickens that are all free roaming and they dont do anything about them ..

so I'm assuming I'm completely fine! :)

Most people get in trouble because someone complained. Worth keeping the neighbors happy. To the poster that say small towns don't enforce zoning ordinances, that's wrong. Most places with zoning ordinances do enforce them such as making buildings located in proper zones, setbacks, building or zoning permits, etc. The violations are usually only enforced when a complaint is received. Small towns and even a lot of bigger ones have limited resources and maybe even part time zoning administrators, they don't have time to go after every violation. I know what I'm talking about because I am a zoning administrator for five small Nebraska towns.
