I am Joe the nurse and I agree with Terrie. Flat tax. Don't call it income tax, call it outcome tax. You pay more if you spend more. That's fair.

Some like the North East would pay for those in lower income areas. bet they would enjoy that.

Eh, we already do pay more into the system than we get out, at least when it comes to federal disbursements and entitlement programs. Mostly because there's lots of industry in the more urban areas, higher employment, generates more tax revenue. As near as I can tell, it has been thus since the late 18th century, so I suppose we're used to it.

What I was saying was that you make 25K a year you pay $2500 a year to the feds (10%) and $1250 for Social Security and Medicare (5%).

So from $25,000 they go to $21,000 spendable? How do they live? What if they make $20,000, they would have about $17,000. Rethink the numbers. My medical bills per year are larger than that.........

Ricki I dont know what kind of relationship you have with your Dad, but as a Viet Nam Vet myself I wonder what you think your Dad went to VietNam for. Do you have any idea how many people have died to give you the right to vote. Did they do it for nothing in your eyes? I dont care who you vote for but for God's sake get up and vote. If you don't, I guess they died in vain. Wake up!

Isn't that what minimum wage attempts to help with? If "cost of living" so to say is x, min wage gives you y = x/.85, and what ever you need to do to survive, like live at home, with room mates, or another job is above y, you'd still get taxed the same and "earn" .85 of what you make raw?

Per man hour, no matter the pay per hour, you'd be giving up 15% of it, be your hour rate be 1 dollar or 100 dollars.

It's how would they live? They would go on welfare and NOT pay at all and be a drain on the economy. That's why there would have to be a cut off as to who would pay.

So the government collects less $$, how would you get them to stop spending $$$$$. Last balanced budget had everyone's favorite pres Clinton(meant as joke). Last 8 years has been spend it don't ask how it will be paid for.
