I usually can't tell what's what until some one crows. I'm a ding bat.

So first off, we have Cooper. Cooper is my daughter's chicken. s/he is 12 weeks old, and s/he was supposed to be an Orpington. Is it? and will it lay or crow?

Next, we have "Mullet". Mullet is a cross between a RIR and a white silkie...just to see what would happen. Now we know, don't we!?! I love Mullet but I don't know if it's Mullet or Femullet. Can any one clarify?

Thanks, y'all, and I'm sorry for the cruddy quality of the pictures.

How old is Mullet? I would probably guess rooster.

Cooper could be a Splash Orpington, but s/he sure has a lot of white. She looks girlish to me.

Thank you-I thought Mullet was a boy! He's a right good looking boy, too, if I do say so. ETA: Mullet is 17 weeks. You can't see it in the pic, but he has four toes on one foot and five on the other. He has stubby little feathers sprouting on his feet. He is just very cool and he is very sweet like a silkie.

Any idea as to what breed Cooper is? She was a freebie bird from my daughter's school science project.

Beautiful! I think you should start breeding Silkie/RIR's and make a new breed!
