“I have 3 2 month old chickens, 2 Production Reds and 1 Isa Brown ( just lost my other Isa Brown), looking to replace the one I lost but not sure what kind to replace it with (compatibility wise)-looking for dual birds or layers. Thoughts?”

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Some good dual purpose breeds are Black Australorp and Buff Orpingtons. Don't know anything about production birds/sex links etc. in regard to temperament. Whatever breed you get, you will have to go through an integration process before adding to your present flock.

Welcome to BYC!!
I don't have a lot of experience but I'm currently liking white rocks for a dual-purpose bird! Sweet tempered, cold hardy, and fairly meaty. Barred rocks are excellent as well but I prefer the white feathers :)
