I am thinking about getting a few conturnix and I want something that is nice to look at as well. What varieties would you recommend, post pics if you can please, and also would you recommend buying hatching eggs, chicks, or grown birds? Also what is they difference between conturnix and buttons?

everyone has their own preferences for looks. i like the golds someone else might like tibetans ,etc.
Buttons are about 1/3-1/4 the size of a coturnix depending o if you have the jumbo Coturnix or pharoahs .
i like to hatch my own eggs .If you have an incubator they are easy.Eggs are less expensive, you know the age so you don't get old birds/culls, and Coturnix grow out quick so there's not a long wait from eggs to maturity.

Coturnix are fairly easy to raise. Buttons are too but you have to consider pairing them when they are older. Coturnix are group birds (1 male per 4-5 hens work really well). Colorwise, coturnix come in nifty colors nowadays.

How is manchurian lethal do some eggs never develop or do the birds die when they are alive

Eggs result in DIS (Dead In Shell) or newly hatched chicks dying.

How often does it happen?

generally it's about 25% with the lethal gene.
@ Gamebirdboy...i have a white bloodline that i was told has the lethal gene, however, when i hatched the eggs from this person the whites had a pretty good hatch rate .We THINK it's b/c they actually NEED a slightly LOWER(about 4 degrees) incubation temperature to hatch. i'm going to experiment when they start laying.
