Hello I am new to byc. I am excited to learn more . I started with 8 chicks in april and lost one about a week after we got them. Then got a new hen 2 months ago and lost another one have no idea why she was just dead when i checked them one morning sad!! So now I have 6 hens and one silkie rooster that is pretty evil, but its my only silkie so i can't get rid of it, lol!

So sorry for your losses. Very young birds or new birds to to new grounds can contract coccidiosis which many times kills them.

Sounds like you have a lovely flock now! Enjoy your Silkie, evil or not, and welcome to our flock!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens. You might like to subscribe to the "Silky thread.". just put that in the search box and it will pop up. The folks there can give you the best information on the breed. Maybe your rooster is protecting his flock and you see that as "evil." What is he doing ? Does he attack people?
