Truly, if I knew whether a breed was cold hardy or a great layer, why would I need to look up a breed to get information. Peviously i could simply pull up the breeds in alpha order to find the one I needed(if that option is still there then please tell me where to find it). Change back to the old format. I am sure you thought you were making improvements, but so far it has creating a much greater effort on the end users part to accomplish anything.

Perhaps you should do some more reading here about this changeover. It is not possible to change back. The old platform was not able to support the size BYC has grown to. It was, wait for it to crash and lose all that data, or find a new platform. Several months of work went into choosing a new platform, and this was the best fit.

We are aware there are bugs and have been putting a lot of time and work into resolving them.

When you open the breeds tab you will see "product" near the top of the page. Click on this, and they will move into alphabetical order.

Thank you for telling me how to list them in alpha order. But, seriously who is going know that unless you tell each person personally that a button called product can make that change? It needs to say click here for alphabetical list of breeds( or something to that effect).

When you click on the breeds link it does say to change into alphabetical order click "product" quite clearly directly to the right of the page. I'm not finding the new site too bad, a little slow at scrolling pages but that might just be my slow computer

I find that change is something we all need to get used to, when something changes we all seem to hate it but once we get used to it it's fine, sometimes even better than what we originally had, then when that change happens again we will find we miss what we had last and have completely forgot what the first one we once missed was like!

I never mind change when it makes things smoother and easier to use. It may make the back end easier for the site owners, but it is not a positive change for the end user, Yes it does say that to the right about the product, but again, that just requires even more effort on the part of the end user to decipher what to do(the product button could have been set up using a more familier term to everyone with a drop down with the options listed). This needs to be viewed from the end user's eyes, not a programmers eyes.

I agree, but imagine that the new platform came with a lot of pre-sets, where the function may be in place but the labelling is some default term. I've never seen a site like BYC, where user feedback can make such a quick difference in operation. I imagine that these will be modified over time, as possible.

Overall performance is the primary focus right now and minor issues like terminology are going to take a back seat to that for a while. We aren't long into this new platform and the changes made from day one here have been major as anyone who was on here from transition day one can tell you.

This was never about being easier from our side. This was about the survival and future of this forum and community.

Survival and future go hand in hand with functionality. Functionality can be defined as ease of use for the end user when it comes to websites and increasing or maintaining traffic which is what drives your business( the more users on your site the easier it is to sell ads to keep the business financed). I am not telling you something new. But you should be concerned with the fact that it is less friendly to use at the moment. You have the largest audience of all the chickens forum sites online, I would like to see you stay that way. You could have had an interface that looked like the old site but had the function of the new running in the background. Then all this would not have been necessary. But, this is your website and some of us will manage, others will drop, and some new ones will join.

We are days into this new platform with a full user load and making changes is going to take some time. Tailoring the last forum to the user dynamic took years of trial and many errors. With more functionality and features on this forum that tailoring is going to take months with a lot of highly DETAILED and specific member input. That and consideration for concensus of the majority that has always driven change on BYC and has already prompted numerous changes.

It is the cooperative effort between members and staff that will bring us through this transition.
