I am not sure what this is

We did not anesthetize her, we talked about this quite a bit as we are working through the fine line of animal cruelty and looking to save her. I didn't see anyone else talking about that in their posts so we didn't want to complicate things further.

We did hold her down, but it was really to hold her in a workable position. She didn't squawk or move around that much at all. We were all pretty surprised but I had read similar things with the other posts as well.

The clamp were from office max, like a binder clip. The glue clamp thing was a problem on the first one, so for the others I held it together long enough. smothered everything with Neosporine also.

I tried surgery on a girl of mine. Everything seemed fine until 2-weeks post, her crop perforated and got all disgusting. This had been going on for so long, I threw in the towel and put her down. I hated to do it, but she was not going to recover for a long time even if I did round 2 on the operating table. I did get a sour crop to clear up with dietary change, but the bad one was impacted with over a cup full of stuff, mostly grass.
I hope yours makes a full recovery. She is a pretty girl. That crop was even bigger than my girl's was! Wow!
Keep up with posting progress, it sure helps a lot of people to take care of theirs when this happens.

Thank you so much erock...very good explanation. Great picture.

Last dumb question...I use crazy glue a lot making dollhouse miniatures and from that experience it sticks to everything...
How did you hold her wounds together while it cured without it sticking to your hands, or gloves, or the binder clips when you used them?

I don't want to sound like I am making light of your question, but we realized the Krazy glue thing would be difficult right off and so the only answer I can give you is, very carefully. We tried to allow for a little extra for either the clamp or my fingers but, it was hard to stay out of it, so we just had to be careful.

Now THAT was interesting. Did she make it ?

She is doing well, however I must note that it looks like she is going down the same road again. She was really taking a lot of abuse from the other birds for a good week or two afterwards, but we slowly got her back in the good graces with the rest of the flock. It has been a month or so after the surgery and she looks good but lately I have been noticing that her crop is getting a little large again. I am not sure, maybe I am a little sensitive to it because it was her issue before but I continue to monitor. Otherwise she is a normal bird again. Thanks for asking.
