It seems like I have been researching chickens forever. I went to our local feed store with my almost 4 year old daughter and came home with 8 (I was only going to get 6!) ADORABLE chicks!!! We bought 3 what they said are Aracaunas - sure they are Easter Eggers, 1 barred rock, 1 buff orpington, 1 golden laced wyandotte, 1 Rhode Island Red and 1 ISA brown. We are so excited to start our flock!!!!

Here they are!!! Please tell me if I have the breeds right on these! Thanks!

Congratulations! They're totally adorable, and I think it's great you decided to start with a variety. It's a good way to figure out what breeds you like best. Have fun with your new babies!

Thanks! I did try to start with a good variety to see which I liked better! My daughter always loves the green/blue eggs that we get from our local farm, so that is why I got 3 of the Easter Eggers. Of course I had to have a barred rock and the golden laced wyandottes are so pretty!

I can certainly see why people become addicted to them!

Aww... congrats! The Wyandottes are gorgeous aren't they?! I have 13- 5&6day olds. I can't believe it's almost been a week since they hatched.. Our local feed store has some Barred rocks in, I want some more... haha. Nope, not addicted at all! I've done chicks twice before. It will also be an awesome experience for your daughter! GOOD LUCK!

What beautiful chicks you picked - and healthy looking (knock on wood). Chickens are like ice cream, you want to try every flavor.
