I Am So Glad They invented this!

Heated water dish was the bet $25 I have spent. Here in MN it's a necessity. I splurged last winter and purchased a ceramic heat emitter (off ebay at 50% retail) which I just can't say enough good things about. Hens love the heat, I love that it's not lighting up the coop all night long.

We've had daytime highs over the last week in the 5F area. Today it was 15, so took the kiddos sledding. Amazing what 10 extra degrees can do for you. It felt like Spring. Can't wait for later in the week -- it's supposed to be mid-20s. Bliss! C'mon Springtime - we're ANXIOUS!

Why have heated buildings or waterers? Chickens do good or better in the cold. All my production birds get water twice a day and none production chickens and pigeons get water once a day. I only use gallon milk jugs as waters. I cut a hole in the side and just pop the ice out and refill. My Isa Browns are laying 95% now and it was 1degree this morning.
