Well I blew it. They gave the position to the other person.


I was blindsided at the interview.

They had me come into conference room where they do the county board meetings. Now picture the high platform big huge desk in a U shape. Then they had one little chair upfront for you to sit in with them looking down on you.


Not one question asked was about being able to do the job. They asked questions like have you ever mentored anyone before?
Have you ever made a hard decision at home? Crap like that.

When the boss pulled me in today he told me about it and how he was disappointed in their decision. He said I got knocked for clothes. I wasn't wearing a full suit which is what they expected. I came in on my day off from the center, but was working for the ambulance, so i pulled a nice polo shirt on over my ambulance t-shirt but had my black BDU pants and Black boots on. I didn't make enough eye contact. what??? is that. How does that apply to keeping the database up todate?

Ok everything this new person is taking over is all the work I have been doing on my own for well over 2 years. She has no idea how to access the mapping system to change the maps. He asked me to train her on it. I flat said NO. I then came back into the center and deleted all my little pet projects I have been working on. Screw them I can be just like everyone else do my 8 and go home.

Right Ok.....you may not have gotten the position now....BUT ...that does not mean to say you wont get it offered to you shortly......from what you have said, it appears that although the female may have gotten the job....can she actually do the job.....does not sound like it. BUT you can...hang on in there, she may find it's all too much for her. WHY have your employers given that level of job to someone who does not have experience of it, especially if she can't change the map thingy????

She got the position because she scored higher on their point scale on answering the questions. And she came in a suit dress thing. All nice and formal like.

Again they didn't ask any and I mean any questions as to qualifications.

What ticks me off more is that when I got hired here years ago I didn't even have a interview like this. I came in with jeans and a t-shirt and got the job. I wasn't even expecting to interview the day I came in. I didn't have to fill out a resume or a cover letter or get dressed up.













Well Ok maybe its not all deleted forever.........it might be on my thumb drive.

But as far as the county is concerned its gone.
