I am so SICK of being stood up by my customers!!!!!

I never make appointments in advance and wait around for a customer (a bird customer that is). There are just far too many flakes out there. I also *never* give out the address to where we keep our birds.

If a person seems genuinely interested, I spell out in detail how we handle transactions. I find out where they are coming from and tell them the area we are located in (or mutually decide where to meet).

Once a general time frame for meeting is established, we ask them to call us as they are walking out the door to come to pick up the birds. At that phone call, we give them the address and directions. Having gone to this somewhat strict way of doing business has increased sells and reduced headaches substantially.

I don't want to deal with that so I just take my birds to a local poultry auction. I know I could get more money for them if I sold them out of my home, but I don't want to deal with no-shows.

This reminds me of the time I cleaned my house from top to bottom for a potential home-buyer and they didn't call or show! I was not a happy camper.

ME!!! Over here!!! ME!!!

It makes me SO mad! i mean when you call and sound alll interested and then THEY pick the date and time for the pick up , you give them directions, STEP BY STEP, and they NEVER SHOW UP. You wait. And wait. and STILL they dont come.

You know, I've had that happen twice to me this week. Once for hatching eggs and once for chicks. I block out a portion of my day to dedicate to meeting with folks and they don't even call. One of them didn't even answer their phone and claimed I never called them. I was just worried that they had gotten lost or that they had an accident. They were mad at me, when I should have been the one mad.

I always meet in public to sell hatching eggs or chickens. I make sure I have the buyer's cell phone #. I also make a very tight time frame: "I'll meet you at Mickey D's between 10 & 10:15." I try to arrive a couple minutes early, figure I might end up staying later than planned. This works out fine, because I am spending 40 minutes (tops) reading the paper in my car, as opposed to sitting around my house for three hours, waiting for a stranger to come over.

I have only been stood up once. A "lady" arranged to meet me in front of the library to buy eggs. I was 10 minutes early & stayed 10 minutes past the arranged time. It was a lovely day to sit on a bench outdoors, so no sweat. I did notice that a guy pulled up & did not go into the library during the time I was there.

He could have been a weirdo...

You guys are making me feel so guilty! I was going to get a RIR roo from a guy about an hour and half away from me. We talked, set up an appt. and everything. Then the more I thought about it, the more I realized I was not quite ready to get a roo yet. Yeah, I know, I should have thought about it harder before I made the appt. Sometimes I get excited and don't always think things 100% through. I even got opinions on the roos he was selling from fellow bycer's! *smacks myself in forehead*

But I did email him to cancel 3 days before I was due to show up at his house. I just told him due to unforseen circumstances I could not keep the appt. I apologized for wasting his time and told him I hoped he would find buyers for his roos quickly. I also told him how much I appreciated all the time he took with me. But I still feel guilty!
