It is the 3.5th day of incubation, and I just candled the eggs.I wasn't really sure how much I was going to be able to tell this early on, but I decided to candle anyway.First, I will tell you about my incubation issues.

#1 Since the eggs were shipped 5 had detached air cells, and 3 had pulled back membranes.

#2 I couldn't store eggs longer then 3 hours due to high temp., and low humidity.

#3 The first 10 hours the humidity was 70%!

#4 the electricity went out on day 2, and the bator was at 79F for 1.5 hours

#5 last night the bator was at 96F for 10 hours

I had no idea what to expect after all these problems, and was severerly dissapointed to find 2 weren't developing at all, 6 just looked like a yolk, that didn't float and may have had a blood ring, but I wasn't sure, and one was healthy, and developing!:(Can the yolk ones be developing, or is it over with?I feel like such a failure!I stayed up almost the whole night every day adjusting the temp., and humidity, but I guess that isn't always enough.:(Is there any chance, or is my $42 down the drain with all my hope, and excitment?

First time hatching?

I'd not worry at all about humidity, or the temp swings the first day. The shipping probably did them in no matter how well you incubated.

But all in all...

Leave them there till day 10 and then decide how it went. Unless you really know what you are looking for day 4 is too early.

Leave them longer sometime they take longer to develop and you may throw out a good egg. It is better to wait and then you can tell more clearly. Trust me I have cracked open what I thought was just a unfertile yolk and it was an embryo.

Thanks forall the positve replies, You really made my day!

Bock!
Silkiechicken's right, wait till day 10 to candle.
And stop beating yourself up! You're not a failure by any stretch!
You're being very careful and doing your best to do everything right.
Give them eggs a chance and learn from it all.
My first hatch I accidentally had the humidity at almost 80% for the first three days and it didn't hurt my eggs at all.
So, don't lose heart and don't look at those eggs until day 10, you might be pleasantly surprised.
And if you find yourself dissappointed on day 10, take what you have learned from this batch and start over.
Good luck!

I recently only hatched 1 chick out of an initial 66 shipped eggs! my hatch before that I hatched 17 out of 28 shipped eggs, being upset is normal, it will pass, in the meantime order some more eggs and try again.
