I am sooo fed up!

Try isolating her for about a month away from the rest of the chickens. Even in a cage if you have to. She'l be so miserable being alone that she will be low man on the totem pole when you put her back. If she hasn't had an attitude adjustment by then I would keep her isolated till she does. Good luck.

You keep getting rid of the new birds in favor of the one you don't seem to like? Why don't you get rid of the mean hen and get some that are nicer? Or, if you like her a lot, get more game hens. They are feisty, I have a few. Mine free range constantly, and while the other girls are penned up, two in particular will tease them through the fence, trying to get them to fight. I like my game hens best, so they will be staying and I'll pick other compatible birds to house with them. Or try to house...I can't seem to keep the games in a pen.

Well, after all she is a game hen. Her behavior is not going to change- it's a component of her genetic make up.

Ariel, as I said before, this hen is my husband's favorite. There is a story behind it, but it is long, and to try to simplify it, she got loose and was a wild chicken for over a month before we captured her. Almost immediately she bonded with my husband and will let him hold and cuddle her. None of our others like him at all. She is his pet. She also lays daily (almost) so she is close to my heart in that regard. I am just so frustrated. I think I will have to isolate her maybe permanently. i wish we could let her free range but the neighbors have soooo many dogs/cats in the area that it is just impossible. I rent my home, and really get along well with the landlady and it's mostly her dogs and since she lets me have as many chickens and other pets as I want, I have to settle for keeping the birds contained.

Sourland, I was probably being a little broad in calling her a "game hen". She is actually an andalusian hen. And the funny thing is that my BR girl is actually the true "boss" and can put the meanest girl in her place easily. I called her a game hen because there is some game bird somewhere in her breeding...but I have a couple of birds that have more "game bird" in their genes that are complete pansies with others...

I wouldnt sell them, then you are just passing on your problems with them to someone else. If you honestly cant stand then anymore put em' in the freezer. The mean ones taste the best

I would not continue to allow her to make life miserable for the rest of my flock. It would seem permanent isolation for her is your only alternative.

I have one game hen that free ranges with my flock during the day it's just pure bliss, but if I try to lock her up in the coop, all h$ll breaks loose. Games aren't good at confinement, they get bored and bully the others. Maybe you could let her free range and sleep in the trees (or lock her in the coop at night), like mine does. Heck I've even clipped her wings and she still manages to get up in the trees.

Hope you find a solution. If she is keeping the others from the food and water, they could eventually die.
