For you and whomever gave you that lovely little egg.
Would you believe I have an almost identical picture (egg in hand) on my cellphone?
As to your "how often" question - onyl one of my 20wk old pullets is laying righ now.
But she is a little Chicken Metronome - I get one egg a day from her.
Which I show to the other 4 and call them Slackers!
Mine are 19 weeks today & I am checking morning & night. Nothing yet, but hopefully soon! My EE's are probably a couple weeks off, no comb change yet, but the RIRs look like they are getting ready!!
I cant wait for my first egg. Three of my Gold Links are18 weeks old (this week) and one just squatted for me on Sunday! My three EEs the same age dont look nearly as ready and everyone else is still to young (13 weeks and 15 weeks).
I was just out at the coop again, more cold water, and Maggie my Barred Rock was cackling and squaking up a storm in one of the nest boxes.
I waited and watched and she jumped out.
Maybe she will lay an egg this evening too. I had a lot of hens very interested in the nest boxes while I was out there. I can only hope more will start laying now. They are all the same age after all.
