We had a big sale day in out town today and I was selling our chickens. So a lady and her husband come and want 10 chicks, but they only want to pay $1 for each, not $2, Fine, since they're also taking roosters. So originally it was 4 roosters, then they wanted more. So I very specifically told them we're only selling the roosters, that's two of the wyndaotte, two barred rock and one of the black and brown. For free I was giving them two black bantam that showed up in our yard. Then we got busy so my kids were watching, they also asked my kids for a bowl of scratch for the babies. Now hours later I discovered they took the original 4, plus the black and brown two females and the two black! And paid my kids $10 for all those! I'm ticked! I tried to be nice and they took advantage of my being busy and the kids. I'm steamed. They're local so they better hope I don't see them around. Angela

Wow..talking about rude behaviour and selfish. They really did take advantage of your good nature and worst yet of your children. Something like this should be able to be reported because in reality this is theft. they ripped off a couple kids while the adult was busy and they fully knew the deal. I would find them and get the birds they did not pay for back or demand the rest of the money. If its a small town, you probably have a community newspaper, put an add on there, let people know how someone ripped you off by waiting till you were busy and conned your kids into believing you had made that deal.

Some people are just disgusting human beings!!!

Oh yes I would shame them in the local news. They already got a deal and scammed the kids for even more.Shame on them!Even if they don't see your comments I bet someone that knows them(and knows they just got new chicks) will put it together. Either they will laugh about it,or they will make right by giving more money or the chicks back. Sorry your kids had to experience such people. It takes the joy out of it,but it is a learning experience.

It was a learning experience. A hard one. In our town we pretty much trust everyone, I mean most of us don't lock doors, leave our keys in our cars. So this was a violation of that. An unwelcome lesson.

I put a note on our town website. Guess what that night the chickens mysteriously reappeared in our pen!

I wonder who put them back in?

Glad that they are back home.

I was going to say find their address and send them a bill. That's not what you agreed upon. Or call the police and have them escort you to them and get all your chickens back.

Good for you!

I don't guess that they were gone long enough to be housed with other chickens and possibly picked up some type of disease and brought the disease back to you and your chickens.
