I Am Trying To Read Twilight And I Already Hate Bella

Bella does make an ill-advised attempt to save her mother from a danger that turned out to not exist, so I suppose there is something in that, if it makes you feel any better.

I loved most of the Harry Potter series but just can't see the appeal of the Twilight saga.

Have you checked out "Blogging Twiligh"t on the sparknotes.com website? Its absolutely hilarious! He's on the third book I think but you can read back-blogs on the site. It honestly is THE funniest thing--the guy HATES Bella --I HIGHLY recommend it! Although this week he blogged Harry Potter for April Fool's. Just search on the site for Blogging Twilight.

my 13 year old read all of the books in a month and really enjoyed them

1. Bella is an awful character. Throughout the entire series she relies on others to do her dirty work. She does not stand up for herself except in the last book where there's a HUGE cop-out near the end anyway.

2. The author wrote the book like it's her journal instead of a fictional piece of literature. There's no literature to it, it's a diary of what she wishes would happen.

3. Try to not put yourself in Bella's shoes. Even though the book is written in first person, read it from a third or second person perspective.


My favorite book is Book 3, Eclipse, but that's probably because there's alot of action in there.

My Favorites by Book:
1. Eclipse
2. Breaking Dawn
3. Twilight
4. New Moon

(I honestly cannot read New Moon. Nothing worse than seeing the main character lose herself completely and come to rely on two other characters completely....ridiculous.)

Anyway, getting past the "I hate Bella" thing...it's a somewhat good read.

For real!! Twilight is an example of an overmarketed fad (notice how many copycat vampire-themed novels for teens are out now...it's all about the $$$). If I want a good vampire book, I look for the "classics" by Anne Rice.

The Lightning Thief series (although very YA lit) has much better character development. I also like The Looking Glass Wars.
