A few of you might remember me posting a month or so ago that my first try with my new Genesis 1588 incubator was a complete disaster. I ordered a dozen eggs from Georgia that were sent via the USPS. I had read the stories on here about shipped eggs but I need some Silver Lakenvelder hens and since I had a new incubator I wanted to give it a try. Well, out of twelve eggs, none hatched or were even close when I candled them, I was very disapointed.
So, now the good news. After giving my neighbor some eggs to eat, he now wants some laying hens of his own. He wants four hens and a rooster. I told him I could hatch some from my chickens for him. I suggested we start with twelve eggs and hopefully he would end up with at least what he wants. At "lockdown" I had what looked like a good possiblity of ten hatching, I was excited. Out of the ten, nine hatched and I still have the tenth in the incubator but don't have much hope. (day 23)
I took the little cuties over to my neighbor this morning and he was glowing like a new Grandaddy.
Here are the pics of the chicks.

the chicks are adorable. Congradulations on a successful hatch.

Congratulations!! Shipped eggs are tough. there are so many variables that you're always lucky to have any of them hatch.
