My pekin I believe is eggbound and have never had this problem with her before either. She lays like clockwork everyday but for the past 3 days nothing. She sits in a spot for hours every day trying to lay but nothing. She is also not her perky self and not as active. She did hurt her leg last week but is walking with no limp now so that seems to be doing better. All day she is panting and I know the heat is bad right now but I give her frozen peas or water with ice which seems to help. She isnt even interested in going in the pond much either I am worried about her and need to figure out what to do for her. I do feed her layer feed daily but she hasnt been eating much either. She has been sitting in her spot for 4 hours already this morning....Please help!!!!!

A good duck vet is best, but not always possible.

Meanwhile and in any case, I would get her into a tub of lukewarm water and just let her relax there for an hour or so. I would also fix up a treat with a lot of calcium in it - like, 200 mg or so.

Half a Tums, crushed into some peas, perhaps, or half of a 250 mg calcium citrate tablet, as soon as possible, I would follow up with another dose of calcium in the morning, and another swim.

Be careful not to crush the eggs inside her.

You might try lubricating just inside her vent with coconut oil.

Sounds like she's sick. But the problems is... Sick for what?!
This moment, just try to make her happy and comfortable.
Do more investigation. Hope you may find out what cause it.

She seems more active today I think part of it is her injured foot but she isnt limping today. I may just give her calcium today because she sat for a while today and no egg. She is swimming and acting a little more normal. Her foot is not as swollen and looking more normal I am sure this 100 degree weather we are having doesnt help either

I have offered the ideas I can come up with. I hope she continues to improve, and I strongly suggest some extra calcium at least for the next few days. She may need extra calcium from here on out.

Thank you Amiga I will be sure to give her extra Calcium for a while and see how it goes. I did not have calcium tabs so I used the tums today I will get her some calcium tabs. I just put it in her tomatoes which she loves as much as peas. She was actually more active today too and looking for bugs in the grass. Thanks again.
