I blame the ducklings for it all!

I used to do that for my best friend that lived next door back home in NC. I'd get tired of doing the same ol' cleaning over and over again in my house. She worked full time, had two boys and a slob for a husband. I had a key to her house, so I'd get myself a change of scenery and clean her house on occasion.
Sorry Cetawin, I'm just not in a housecleaning mood today. Think I'll go entertain myself the same way I did yesterday. I'll grab a big ol' piece of banana bread, go sit in a chair outside and tell all the chickens that gather round how awfully good it is. It doesn't take long before they take it from me by force.

I'd also like to blame my various fowl for the state of my house. Except my house has been a disaster zone since before I got them...

What do you do about a duckling (5 wks) who apparently does NOT want to swim? My gosling will do laps in the kiddy pool, but my duck just wants to get out immediately and then sit in the water bowl instead.

Luckily I have to go to work, otherwise I'd never get anything done. I watch the kids when I get home all evening... better than TV.

LOL they are a gang and force to be reckoned with some days around here too.

MoTownChickie....try moving him up in size from his water dish and let him get used to it and then to something bigger ....eventually he is gonna swom in his own but you can try increasing it a little a time for now.

LOL that's been my life lately!!!
Today I felt productive though,..my husband rigged up a circle of chicken coop wire,..I put the cement bucket in and a box for shelter. I brought the pack out and , let me say a little swimming,..they are not overly crazy yet about it,..but they loved being outside,..they napped out there,..putted around,...even managed to figure out how to squeeze out in unison when I asked my son to watch them for a minute while I changed (it was hot out there) As soon as I went in they all ran through the holes after me. I went back out caught them,..reprimanded them,..no no no,..riciculous,...I know I know,..and let me say,..they didn't try it again.
NOW I got to plant all my window boxes did a litte sunning, played with the dogs and kids,..and when the sun started to go down a bit,..they actually came out of there little box and started doing the Arsenio Hall whoo whooo whooo whoo,..which means hey you,..we want something,..this time it was to go inside. Great day all in all,..I can see this being a nice pattern for a bit, but truth be known the one thing I have learned about rasing ducks, is every day is a change from the day before.

Oh indeed...each day a new adventure. Mine now know where their brooder is so when I lift the tractor they spend their day in...they take off for the garage.

I started giving mine water to play in at their leisure from 4 days old. Started out in a 9" pie plate, then to my gladware, then toa litter pan type thing and then their pool. The litter pan size stays in there with them all day...they get supervised pool time.
