I bought 6 laying hens tg I quarantined them!

Brought home 6 golden comet 9 month old laying hens.
After researching symptoms on here and asking at the chicken tent
yesterday at the 4H fair, I found out they have CRD.

(strange to see a chicken with frothy bubbles coming out the eyes, nose and beak!)
Of course the seller will not e-mail me back. I am angry that I was sold
sick birds and can take them back tomorrow since I know where I
got them from. My biggest worry is they will transfer it to my other ladies.

Any thoughts?

My thought is that if you take them back, the seller will sell them to some other unsuspecting person. I'd cull them. I'm very glad you quarantined them--that's what quarantine is for, to keep disease from entering your flock this way. Good for you! And shame on the seller for passing on sick birds to someone else.

Did they not show symptoms when you got them? If so, what did the seller tell you about that?

Keep them quarantined, put them on a course of herban(easily avaliable on the interent) and if you can get your hands on it, definately a couple of doses of tylan soluble(usually need a prescription for it). Both are put in their drinkers. Best of luck.

Just know if you do treat them and it is CRD, they will remain carriers.
