Never had brahma before they are now almost two weeks. Should they have a roost? They are living with my CXs now but will be seperated soon. Do I raise them any different then my CXs? Help!!

I raised brahmas, and they are by far some of my favorites! I would certainly not worry about a roost at 2 weeks. My newest chicks are six weeks old and will be moving to a larger enclosure very soon since they are feathering out nicely, and that's when I usually add a roost. Adding a roost at 2 weeks won't hurt any, but it's not an absolute necessity. You do raise brahmas differently than CX because brahmas won't need the same type of food. They should be eating separately as brahmas need access to food all the time. I'm hoping maybe someone else that has raised CX will pitch in here.

As far as raising them differently? I would think there would be quite a difference in how they are raised. For starters, you should handle your brahmas a lot so they will learn to trust you, but distance yourself emotionally from the CX if they are for your freezer!
Good luck!

They are one of my favorites.

They go through a gangly teenager phase but turn into beautiful birds. Very friendly and quiet.

Yes, it will be good to separate them soon so you can play with them and feed them treats.

I have been trying to handle them more, they all seem kind of skidish. I pick the brahmas for there weather tolerances. I live in northwest PA and we get very cold and very hot. Will the brahmas free range? I will seperate soon just waiting for the weather to come around still cold at night and I only have one heat light. Right now they are not to far in size from CXs. Do they nedd a different type of food or just different eating schedule. Thanks for the help.
