I built this at the weekend

the green was buy one get one free. I bought 8 tins (paid for 4), so now I have 40 litres of the stuff. I'm planning on building at least two more coops this winter, so they'll all be this colour.

I was given a pot of white, red, and moss green today so I'll probably do a bit of a trim on the coops.

I've also cut out a kick ass cockerel stencil for the pop hole door. Painting is the funnest part of the build.

I bought a dog house that is almost identical to this a few months ago, How are you planning on putting the roost in this??

I love shared ideas..lol

I think it's VERY cute! a small window on the front would look nice & like everyone said, cover the inside with hardware cloth/wire & hinge the window so you can open & close it as needed. Would be cool if you painted the Roo of the breed you'll be housing in the coop on the pop door.

I'm not sure weather or not to take out the nestbox partition and just make one nest box or not. My idea was to put 2 roosts between this partition and the front panel.
I'll have to have a look after I've had a play with it. If I do take it out it'll be from back to front, one a tad higher than the other. It's only going to be for three welsummer bantams so I won't need that much roost space.

Bleenie, the stencil I have looks like a Welsummer, this is compared to the photos in my breed books. Will post a pic of it tomorrow.

I had a couple of hours time today to work on the coop. I've added two windows, covered by welded wire mesh. Finished the run and did a bit more painting. What do you think?

in the last pic, you can see i've used screws and washers to hold the mesh in place, I couldn't figure out how to fix it in place and make it look neat. Also if I need to take the mesh off it'll be easy with the screws.

All I have to do now is add a hinge to the front window and add runners for the sliding side window, add a roost or two and maybe remove a nest box or two.

I'm proud of my first coop
