My bantam eggs were a total loss for my broody hen and she has 3 bantam duck eggs left and they are on day 23. I broke down and candled them tonight and all is dark except air cell at the large end of egg. OMG, I feel like an expectant mom!!! I am SO hoping at least one of these hatch because I have such a determined sweet broody cochin.
For all the experts out there... is it sounding positive? (as I am about to become a chain smoker) [IMG] [IMG]
Oh, and one more question... should I buy her a new baby at the feed store and try the "slip it under her at night" and see if she accepts it in case these eggs fail also?

Don't give up hope just yet. The closer to hatching, the darker and harder to see in them they get. Keeping [IMG]
I would never buy just one of anything. If she doesn't except, it will be all alone. Always get a few.

Oh trust me...I would get more than a few...I have that crazy chicken addiction thing, lol. But the only problem is I am working M-F 8-5 for the next two weeks and I don't think I would be able to properly brood chicks incase she didn't accept them. So it's a gamble. Did I mention that I never had much luck with gambling???
