CONGRATS! April what? Mine is the 24th, so we're right there together.
I'm due sometime around the 24th also. We have the same due date.
My DD was born at 39 weeks exactly, so I'm wondering if this one will be a bit early also. I kind of hope not because my midwife will be out of town that week. She has a back up, but I want HER!
I'm starting to get the baby clothes ready. Looking at all those tiny clothes and diapers is so exciting!
The best things about the slings is that they are better for the baby than stroller. Children who are carried in a sling have to compensate for the mothers movements and shifting weight. The children grow up to be more agile and have better body control. (Think sports) They babies also are within their mothers communication area and often learn to speak and communicate better.
It is good for the mother two as it is cheap and can be used even up to two years old (if it is a strip of cloth) Helps the mother loose weight because she is carrying the weight that increases slowly over a period of time Finally some wraps make it possible to carry the baby low on the hips that prevents later back problems.
I used a strip of cotton cloth and knotted it on my shoulder. Later when the baby could sit up I kbnotted it across my chest and under my arms The baby rode my backside. (Think Africa)

I wore my DD in a wrap a lot, almost all the time. People kept telling me she would never learn to sit up. Then she sat up on her own at 4 months. So they moved on to saying that if I never put her down she wouldn't learn to crawl or walk...she never crawled, but she just stood up and walked away one day at 9 months old, completely out of the blue! We were sitting on the floor and she was in my lap and she just stood up and walked away.
At least now if I get those same annoying comments about this baby I can use DD as proof that tummy time and all that stuff really means nothing.
My 15yo DD does cheer rides horses (she is thinking of barrel racing) is a lifeguard and does HS volleyball.
I did not carry the 10 Yo DD around as much because we did more in the car seat and because people frowned and said I carried her too much. She has a much more difficult time in Dance and other sports. There might be a connection.
I wish I could use a sling. My boobs are just too darn big, especially while I'm nursing, for me to be comfortable with a sling on. I had one with DD and I think I used it once.
I've been having them but not regularly. I felt the first one so early that I did an internet search on them and found out that we actually start having them as early as 6 weeks into the pregnancy!
Of course, I didn't feel them that early but I was in my "teen" weeks when I first noticed them.
Oh, Sebrightmom, I'm sure you're getting anxious to welcome your little one!
