I cant believe its been a year!!

My DH has promised to cover my eyes and hold my hand when they put the iv in. I can handled pain.

what i hate is how when you are delivering the baby, the entire staff thinks they have full rights to come in and watch! not this time. i am going to make sure that they dont try that again.

I have never had a epidural but isn't that a needle in the back. I think most women get over their fear of needles when given the choice between labor pain and the needle. I personally never had much memory of labor God has a way of helping mothers forget shortly after the birth. We would all be only children otherwise. My last baby was induced and that was especially intense labor but here I am ready to do it again.

yes, that is very true. when i had my first, the epidural wasnt widely available, at least where i live. all i got was 2 shots of demerol and he was 10 pounds...i am amazed i ever had any more after that, since he was my first and all. when i had my next 3, they had this thing they called a spinal, where they injected a numbing medicine into your spine..the procedure was a lot like an epidural except that this was just one shot and that was it. it worked great for an hour or so, until the puking and itching set in! i have had an epidural with my last 2 and seriously, those are the biggest godsends on earth!! it looks scary when they put it in but the relief is really something else. i am amazed at how much nicer childbirth has become since i had my first in 1992.

My first was in 1985 and they did not do any of the tests the delivery room looked more like an operating room only three people were allowed in the room my doc, the baby's doc, and a nurse. Only one visitor and it had to be an adult. The baby spent more time in the hospital nursery than with me.

I never get pain control I do it all natural until after the birth. I have no idea who comes into the room to watch because I am usually preoccupied with my own pain control.

What I hate and will not put up with is double rooming with either a c section roomy (because they need more nursing care and have more disturbing medical needs than others) or, the worst rooming with a 17 yr old with a loud boyfriend an blaring TV and curse words every word and visits from her large family who bring her other three children. Sorry for the rant but it has happened more than once.

oh yes, i remember sharing a room...and having to labor in this room the size of a bathroom with only a clock on the wall and then having to ride a gourney to the delivery room, which was equally stark. nope, there was no hotel style all in one room with internet access back then!

i never have my kids come up to the hospital unless its just one of them..i cant imagine dragging the entire clan.

seriously though, i cant wait! newborns are so cute!
somehow, my brother in law and his wife are expecting a girl..on their second try! i guess my husband is the only odd one out of the bunch who cant make girls.

My first labor and delivery was in a lovely (HA!) communal labor room, with the gurney ride to the delivery room. That was in 1988. My second, in 1993, was at a brand new "birthing center" and it was wonderful. The third, 1998, was in another birthing center, but it wasn't as nice. The fourth, 2001, was in my very own bedroom.

And this one will be here...

... most patients deliver in a comfortable, private birthing room that resembles home, complete with a marble bath with tub and shower to help ease the pain of labor. Staff and equipment are brought to the mother so that her birth experience can be a private time. If the mother's doctor advises a Cesarean birth, surgical suites are right down the hall.

If dad chooses to spend the night, he can take advantage of the comfortable sleep chair in the mother's room. The newborn nursery is located right outside mom's door. A refreshment center is also available around the clock for new parents, and a late-night menu of prepared foods can be cooked in a microwave for moms who deliver in the middle of the night.

Hope it is as nice as it sounds... I chose my OB/GYN because they deliver at this hospital!​

I will get the county hospital but even that allows father's and has nice rooms for labor and you get to keep the baby with you. With my first I wanted to get home asap after delivery. Later when I had small ones at homeand wanted to stay at the hospital for some rest first.

The lat two had serious jaundice and I thought I was never going to be able to bring them home.
