I cant find any hatcherys neer lansing mi

I recently lost my pet chicken.my mom has 1 and my brother has 2 but its not the same as huging your own so I am try in to get a chick b4 it starts to get cold.i want 2 to pick her out my self.so I have googled evrey thing and cant find a hatchery or a local person that I can get one from.i would rather get them fram a local person.i live in the city and can only have 5 hens and no roosters. I got a rooster the first time and l loved him but had to get rid of him. It nearly killed me so I really need a hen.but .....how can tell?
