I intended to keep a record of my chickens' first egg, have pictures of it, a celebration, etc. But I can't! I have to celebrate their first 37 eggs instead!
LOL! I was gone - out of the country - when my chickens were going to hit egg-laying age. I left them with a housesitter who was going to tell me when they laid their first eggs. But instead, the chickens hid their nest and she never found it. When I came back, they were over 5 months of age so I *KNEW* they had to be laying - somewhere. I hunted and found the nest with 37 eggs in it. Woo-hoo!
Of course now I have to break that habit and get them laying in the nestbox where the eggs are easier to collect. I moved some of the eggs into it and confined them, hopefully that's enough.
