I Caught and Ate A Button Quail

My cat raided my brooder the other day and took out a young button quail male i had named Gordon. I saw my cat playing with something that i thougth was a kitty toy only to realize it was my bird! I ran over and rescued Gordon. All he had was a lil scratch on his chest no obvious broken bones or anything though I was concerned about cat saliva (as it can cause infections easily...i know from personal experience). Well Gordon did well all night long, all day long the next day but by friday night Gordon was acting listless, and at midnight lost him.

I had just decided not to sell him to a person I was going to sell a pair to because I thought he was my only male, and now my cat raids it and I lose him anyhow *pouts*!

So now all i can hope is the other chick that is the same age as Gordon is a male like i hope.

Ofcourse i dont' blame my kitty though he got a swat on the bum, but a cat is a cat, a predator a predator.

Buttons aren't real meaty but Sandy seemed to enjoy it. She tried
to eat a 2 week old Coturnix today.

She generally leaves the chickens alone unless I tell her to retrieve
them but there is something about a quail that makes her lose control.
