My neighbor came over and i asked her to help me hold my baby girl slushie who is a pekin duck so i could treat her bumblefoot. she was more than happy because she wanted to hold her and she liked how soft she was. we had her soak her feet in epsom salt water for a while, then we took her out and flipped her over. my neighbor held her while i looked at her feet. the black scab was really small and when i would try to take it off, slushie would freak. it obviously hurt. so i took out my razor blade, and pushed it across the absess. it didn't cut the skin at all. so i tried again. nothing. i didn't want to push too hard and i couldn't get the scab off. i finally took her from my neighbor and let her go. she ran with her drake to the pond. i feel so horrible. i don't know what to do. i could tell i was hurting her. in the summer i'll check her foot again. hopefully i'll be working as a vet intern by then and maybe will have a vet by my side. i feel like breaking down and crying. she's my baby. all my ducks are.

is there any other reason she could be limping? i'm pretty sure it was bumblefoot, but because of the size of the scab, i'm thinking it might be something else. the scab seemed more just like dirty pieces of skin. i know ducks have a lot of padding on their feet. is there anything else that could make her limp? and is there anything i can do for her? there are no cuts on her legs and no swelling

thanks. i'll do that. i don't have a pic. i was too worried about hurting her or her hurting herself. it was quite a task just calming her down.
