I decided my future job today. Chicken Scientist!

Bear in mind that a career in poultry science pretty much totally means (afaik) working for the factory-farm industry, be it eggs or broiler production. Even if you are in academia, the research that gets funded is funded by and aimed at industrial-scale chicken raising. I doubt that one tenth of one percent of poultry science is aimed at anything else.

If that is what you want then I am not criticizing but it's definitely something to know, going in.

Good luck,

Pat

I would also look into seeing what professional jobs are available at the state level for things like 4H & FFA. Here in Florida, our 4H'ers attend workshops with Poultry PhD people working for the state...judging, helping kids find noted sellers, etc. Not sure what TX does, but FL seems to have lots of grant money and professional job related to children's educational needs.....

Sounds cool to me....

Good Luck, Dr. Chicken!

OMG! Thanks everyone!
I read all the posts and it seems very, very interesting.
I am a very visual person. (I'm great with computers and charts) I can see myself working with that kind of stuff instead of reading the life long works of some boring author.
As for what company I would go into, I am still unsure.
I don't want to work 'behind the scenes' creating food for chickens or working on processing them.

(Border-lining it... I know.. But I thought it was hilarious and I couldn't help myself!)
