Oops... I think I'm getting mixed up with another post.

Good luck with your little one.

she is on day 21 she was my second pip of 5 so far the other four are out and fine already she has been in her egg for 36 hours so far...she only has a little hole with her beak peaking threw

For the record, I am in the "do not help club". I will tell you that I read a post stating that if you start helping you can't stop until the chick is out of the egg. Something about positioning. I you see blood while helping...stop for few minutes...then begin again. I hope the chick pulls through.

Edited to say: You should leave the bottom on the egg on the chick with the legs out in case the yolk is not absorbed. The chick should kick off the shell when ready.

I would have done the same thing. I had a chick once get stuck due to the fact that I was removing chicks, and didn't see this one had pipped. I saw it as I was closing the bator back up. It went that away for some time. The next morning it was the same thing, hole, peeping, but no progress. I decided to help, something I reserve when I believe that the initial problem was me and not the chick. I took out the egg and carefully removed the cap over the air sac. I pealed away the membrane and that is when I saw that a part of the membrane was stuck to the chick. Yep my fault. A warm washcloth, and a few seconds later she was free from the egg. She's now a 8 week old Black Australorp named Joy.

This would be my one exception to the rule. Human error aside, some chicks just are not strong enough to make it. I don't want to have to cull later because I "helped" a malformed chick hatch.

I am also in the do not help club, i think doing so the chick could past those weak gene later to there young......I want strong chicks, and yes i have help some rare birds hatch , like parrots , so yes i know how, little at a time, take your time, don't break any blood veins, drop of warm water , makes it easier to see the blood veins.
