Chick dead after partial zip of shell

Can someone help me figure out what happened with this baby. Last to PIP, (everyone else had hatched) pipped early morning and was partially zipped by lunch but the membrane was still in tact. No cheeps or movement for 5-6 hours so I decided to check egg. It looks like something weird on its vent (or maybe normal I’ve just never seen before…

Sometimes it happens, with no explanation. Could have been something neurologically wrong that you can't see, or it exhausted itself, or any other number of reasons.

Always rough to lose one at this point, though.
