I had a broody hen leave her nest early. I made a make shift incubator with a heating pad and tub as soon as I realized. She has successfully hatched one chick and was taking care of it but left the other eggs too soon. This one has a pip and I could hear it chirping when I found it. I patiently waited and after nothing else happened for over 24hrs I decided to assist. I know some peoples feelings on this. So please no need to comment about how I shouldn’t have helped please. This was a unique situation cause mom left and I didn’t not have proper equipment. I was afraid it may be shrink wrapped. When I started removing shell it did look to
Me like the chick was shrink wrapped. There is an article on this site on how to assist with coconut oil etc.
I did as article said and realized that the veins were still showing. So I stopped and put back in incubator. The chick is very active in her egg and seems to be breathing okay. But her veins have made no progress for 12 hours, she has been like this. What is my next step? Still just waiting? Is this normal? Thanks for any constructive advice!

This is exactly what happened to me last night I opened up the air cell and their were still veins so I put coconut oil on and put him back in the incubator. I woke up in the night and he was hatched along with the rest of the eggs!

This and increase humidity to help 'unshrink' the membrane. Higher Humidity = Moisture.
