I don't know a thing about raising chickens.... But I'm ready to learn

Well the gave me six, 2 Brown leghorns, 2 Road Island Reds, and 2 Anacuans. I'll have some pictures later tonight when I get home

I'm finding hard to figure out how to post or reply correctly . Sometimes I get double post and some times I don't see what I reply the I do it again. And get a double post. I'm quite sure it's something simple . Just bare with me till I figure it out...lol, lol

Well I finally got the coop almost finish. I brought the brooder from out my kids room. It was smelling really bad. The chicks feathers are starting to grow in and about twice their size boy do they grow.

The roos will have long hackle feathers around the neck that drape down. Same with the saddle feathers around the tail. They will be long and draping. The roos will have very large combs and wattles, crow, spurs, and are larger than the hens.

As for determining cockerels from pullets, the cockerels will get their combs and wattles in much earlier than the pullets. They will have tree trunks for legs and feet. They will start to grow the hackle and saddle feathers and can start crowing at an early age as well.
