I have ID all my bantams except this little guy/girl. I thought it was a Dark Brahma bantam. (I was told this on another thread) But the more she feathers out the more I am thinking it's some other breed. She is about 5-6 weeks old now.

Penciling will start out looking somewhat like barred.

Also, the fact that she's that old and that behind on feathering also points to being a brahma, and probably male in my experience but its still too early.

What makes you think its a different breed? My guess would be dark brahma bantam as well.

The ones I seen when I googled the breed they are more brown and have white necks... Maybe its still a Dark Brahma, I am just not familiar with the breed

Oh OK, maybe that's why I think it looks different. I just gotta wait till the feathers come in more.
Thanks!

I just picked up some silver penciled rock bantams that have the same pattern and have been trying to learn about the genetics and such. If you asked me two days ago I would have no idea lol! So that is something I just learned :)

ETA I was actually looking to buy dark brahmas but there weren't any at the show I was at but I got a beautiful trio and am quite happy! I prefer clean legs anyway and these are show quality.

Until I bought my 5 bantams I had no idea how many different bantams breeds there were! I ended up with a frizzle and I am absolutely in love! I will be getting more for sure!
