I don't want to be that person.

Thank you! Never heard of grubs but they do get mealworms as treats. I’ll definitely look it up.
We picked up and learned about fermenting feed, sprouts, and planted a full blown vegetable garden. When it doubt, go all out.

One of my egg customers trades me eggs for good quality kitchen scraps that she freezes in food safe bags. Egg quality seems to improve when we feed good quality.

Yep! try feeding them grubs. found on amazon. as for greens any scraps will produce healthier hens and better eggs. a couple of things are poisonous, though, so make sure to do a google search before hand. let me know if you have any more questions.
Mine like the dried mealworms

We feed them all of our scraps...and scraps from brewing beer and fermenting beet kvass. honestly...they’ll eat anything. i give them left over mac and cheese from my kids. i also let them pick the carcass of a chicken after i make bone broth from it.

One thing I noticed in my worm digging is just how much the chickens and mulch improve the soil.

Areas where I’ve had chickens, compost, mulch, etc were 6 inches plus of beautiful black rich earth.

New run areas that I haven’t gotten mulch down yet (hope to get wood chips delivered soon) are standard “wooded area in RI soil” - an inch or so of soil over clay.

Chickens are amazing soil enhancers! Add it to the list of amazing things chickens can do!
