Very worthy vent. Happens once, shame on him. Happens again shame on you. Do not be taken advantage of in the name of friendship. You lost nothing, he lost a friend through his behavior.

I don't know why you would consider being paid by him to show his horses or help him show his horses, actually.

I can't believe I didn't post here after reading it earlier. Karen. LOSE THAT CLING ON!!!! You, my dear, have a very kind heart, and you want to see the best in everyone. Lately FAR too many people have been taking advantage of that, and you are the only one that can put a stop to it!!! Put yer foot down!!

I would NEVER expect of others what kindnesses you have offered and been kicked in the face for. It is time for you to start feeling people out before you do for them. It is time that only the ones that have PROVEN they are worthy get the love you have!!! Enough is enough!

UPDATE: He finally asked me today if something was wrong and I spilled it, I have now been fired as a friend. I am a little upset, but I will get over it. He seemed to think that us taking his truck and trailer over made up for all the work I did. He also told me , when I said he never thanked me that he said "Charlie looks really good, thanks" he stated me and my hubby were standing right there. I do admit I have some hearing loss and I have a hard time hearing especially when there is a lot of noise around me, but hubby stated he never heard him thank me and I know he can hear well.

I do not understand people sometimes

, he has a Big Quarter Horse Show the 1-3 of Oct, we will see how he does on his own.
